Day Seven with Cancer:
Today went by so quickly. I woke up and got ready to get out of the house several hours before I had to go to work. Jeremy and I stopped at the dr's office to pick up my instructions for my CT and then we drove to Willoughby to have lunch at Cracker Barrel. I have eaten there maybe 3 times in my whole life, but I knew he liked it there and suddenly I knew that's where we had to go. We had such a nice time just talking and eating some good food. We started driving back to the church and noticed the gas prices. As we were going into CB they were $3.98...coming out about an hour later they were $4.19. I won't even start on how insane that is.
Work was pretty busy in the office today. I had several projects going on and then I was busy reading up on some procedures for tornado drills and lock downs. The sheet had said that we were going to use whistles for one and fog horns for the other. I asked Stephanie if we had whistles and she said she was going to have to go buy them, but she thought she had a fog horn. She then opens one of her desk drawes and says, "Oh, I have one in here!" I said, "Who keeps a fog horn in their desk?!" To which she responds..."That would be Jan." I almost peed myself.
I received some lovely gifts while I was at work. First I got a colored Tinker Bell picture from one of the little girls. She's so sweet. There was another gift in my mailbox from Kim. Now, Kim and I haven't had all that much interaction. We worked together over the summer and she's been back on her breaks, but all in all, we haven't had that much time together. She gave me a beautiful card and a journal with pressed flowers on the front, so that I could document stuff that's going on. I thought that was really sweet. A little while later Andrea came to get Connor. She brought me a card from all of the girls. It really was difficult not to get a little teary. There was also a cancer awareness bracelet. The beads are brown, which is the alternate color for colon cancer. We had to laugh about it for quite a while, because really, they HAD to make colon cancer BROWN? It seems oddly inappropriate...or, I suppose, purely coincidental. Either way, it's pretty hilarious.
When I got home mom, dad, and I looked through all of my x-rays and CTs. There was one thing I saw in my most recent CT that I thought looked suspicious, but I'm probably have no idea what I'm talking about. Either way, I'm still showing my surgeon. That took up a pretty good chunk of time. Mom gave me a new charm for my bracelet. It's a mother/daughter charm and it has our initials on it. She had me crying as I read the card. I'm so lucky to have a best friend like her! What kind of mother gets her daughter a present just before Mother's Day? That would be mine. Seriously...God blessed me with her.
I went ahead and finished the accents for the jewelry and I think if I have time tomorrow I will start on doing the actual pendant part of it. Mom and I also purchased some new scrapbooks online. I'm excited! Not only are they going to be easier to use, but it's set up to be a whole year. It seems oddly fitting, since I just started blogging for a year. It looks like when I journal in it, I'll be able to just come back to my blog as a reference. I suppose I should probably finish up so that I can throw in some laundry and go to bed. I have more CTs tomorrow morning! (Blegh) I swear, if I have to drink any more icky stuff after this whole process is over, I'm doing something drastic. I don't know what, but it's going to be huge! ;) Lol.
